’Tis the Season… of Honour!

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honour. – 1 Peter 5:6 NLT

What does it mean to humble yourself before God and man? As said in 1 Peter 5:6, we are to humble ourselves so that God can lift us up in honour as He chooses. This sentiment is contrary to what we are told by many in this day and age. And yet, His Word remains clear.

Although 2020 has brought a lot of unknowns into being, this year finds Adult & Teen Challenge of BC in a remarkable Season of Honour. We see the fruit of faithfulness in many ways during this season.

We are adding capacity by moving our women’s centre this year from Abbotsford to Surrey into the amazing facility that we purchased, immediately doubling our available beds. In a dramatic turn of events, we have now received approval from the Agricultural Land Commission to continue operating the formerly evicted Abbotsford centre. This blessing will now allow us to provide second-stage housing and aftercare support for women who graduate the program—a first here in BC. We have been asked to explore two different locations in northern BC to pioneer the Adult & Teen Challenge residential program in that region. The CMC Fields Market opened on the Chilliwack Men’s Centre land to grow and sell flowers and vegetables as a sustainability project; we continue to ask God to lead us towards social enterprises that are the right fit.

The list could go on, but this Season of Honour exists only because it is God’s will and timing as we serve in obedience; it cannot be struggled for, strived toward, stolen or wrangled. For all of us, a place of honour in Him is entirely based upon our position before Him. As we align with His will and follow His instruction, He will move us into a place of honour. This is the outcome of simple obedience and walking in humility.

We are forever grateful and humbled by your faithful prayers and support.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
