Give to Adult & Teen Challenge and protect the environment!
We are always grateful for new opportunities to support the men and women who come to Adult & Teen Challenge BC seeking help. One of our past graduates recently approached our Development Team with an inspiring idea, and we’re excited to share it with you. Recycling bins have become an easy and effective way for communities to get involved – that means YOU!
This is just our first placement—many more are on the way! We’re currently looking for new placement locations.
First bin at 2838 Garden St, Abbotsford (kitty corner to Canadian Tire)
Two new ways to give!
- Drop off your old clothing, footwear, accessories and household textiles in our newly placed bin! Not only are you helping the environment but you are also helping the many men and women who come to Adult & Teen Challenge BC for addiction recovery through the funds received.
- Hosting our clothing collection bin is a simple way for you to help Adult & Teen Challenge BC while contributing to environmental waste reduction. This also enables our community to recycle where they live and live where they recycle.
List of Accepted Items:
- All used men’s, women’s, & children’s clothing.
- All men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes. Including dress shoes, slippers, sandals, runners, boots, etc.
- All men’s, women’s, children’s hats, bags, & belts.
- All purses, backpacks, wicker bags, computer bags, etc.
- Household textiles like bed sheets, comforters, bed covers, towels, table clothes, drapes, etc.
NOT Accepted: Very torn or very dirty clothes, wet clothes, books, furniture, electronics, pots & pans, pillows, etc.
You are helping the Environment!
- You are helping to slow down the effects of fast fashion on our global environment (pollution, landfill growth, water withdrawal) by lengthening the life cycle of your clothes when you give them to us.
- You are directly contributing to the creation of a circular economy, a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. About 40% of textiles are reused. The rest are mechanically shredded and re-spun into materials for products like insulation, wipers, and carpets.
You are helping Adult & Teen Challenge BC and more!
Not only are you helping Adult & Teen Challenge BC raise funds for every pound of items you drop off — you’re also supporting job creation globally by enabling people to repair and refurbish those items.
If you want to place a bin in your community, call or email Terrence Mckenzie.
