Adult and Teen Challenge BC has recently opened a Good Taco Restaurant in Sardis, just north of the Vedder River. The men work shifts throughout the week in between their class time and have really enjoyed making tacos, burritos, and nachos. All the food made at Good Taco is fresh, made in house and is healthy. The pineapple sauce is made from fresh whole pineapples, the guacamole is made from real avocados, and we squeeze our lime juice for all the recipes (no additives or preservatives). The menu is authentic Mexican food, and the flavours are incredible. All the meals you purchase at the Good Taco in Sardis go directly to support the men in their program; a small percentage also supports the poor in Mexico. The men are learning Food Safe, how to prepare and cook healthy meals, customer service and how to work with the public.
The men also get a chance to share the love of Jesus Christ. Just last night one of our students noticed a customer came in looking very lost. He felt prompted to follow the man outside after he was done with his taco and ask him his name. The man shared that he was recently out of prison and had been involved with drugs. They exchanged stories and then our student shared how he had found hope in Jesus. Right then and there this man received Christ! And this is not an uncommon story. The men have had many opportunities to share their hope in Christ with a variety of people at Good Taco. God is at work! It is great food – and the men haven’t minded sampling each of the menu items, for quality control, of course!
